One of the best all time musical groups was the Beatles. Remembering the lyrics "let me take you down...", www.metrolyrics.com/strawberry-fields-forever-beatles.html is the theme for the single family housing market across the U.S.  Reports released today, www.2.standardandpoors.com, show the 18.5 % plunge in prices from a year ago. Nationally, from the peak fo the boom during the second quarter of 2006, to today, we have lost over 26 % in home values. In our area, the stats are very revealing. Acoording to our local MLS, www.swflrealtors.com , we sold 975 single homes in December of 2008 for a median sales price of only $120,000. Tha is alot more than the 565 sold in December of 2007, but way below the median sales price of $230k then.

Our area has the dubious distinction of being the leading geograhical area for foreclosures in the country. If you want specifics, visit www.swflreia.com and see all the graphs and numbers put together for the members. Some local experts forcast some new foreclosures hitting that will be extra nice values for lucky buyers. If you have cash, or really good credit and provable sources of income, this is a wonderful time to be in search of a property. Cape Coral and Lehigh Acres have enough choices to keep you busy looking for at least a month. The better offerings hit the market and have numerous written offers for them in hours. Take advantage of a local skilled real estate professional in pursuing obtaining a home.

Greg thinkS NOW is a great time to be in the market for a home. Besides the large inventory and bargain prices being offered, there are low interest rates and a proposed $8000 tax credit on the horizon. The new Amerian dream of home ownership will put smiles on the faces whose home ownership dreams have finally moved into the realm of todays reality.
