Today is Earth Day 2009. It's nice to take a couple of nano seconds and celebrate a day to remind us to recycle, reduce energy use, and recycle more. Although there is no mention of Mother Earth in the lyrics, www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/hair/aquarius.htm , "Age of Aquarius" by the Fifth Dimension from "Hair" always makes me think of the planet in a benevolent manner. So many things can be done to help us spin smiling through the solar syastem. Switch from standard incandescent light bulbs to Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs will save over 75% energy, last longer, and lessen your electric bill. Over $50 billion dollars of the $787 billion the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in Feb. will be used to save energy initatives.www.recovery.gov
Upgrading appilances to energy efficent models will save 15-20% on electric bills. Weatherization of homes for low income families will get them state rebates On energy saving windows, doors, insulation, HVAC, water heaters, and roofs. Recycling saves our natural resources and contributes to a cleaner global environment. Just a small paradigm shift to modify some of our unnecessary "wasting away in Margaritaville", by Florida's own Jimmy Buffet, will bring large smiles to the Mothership. www.margaritaville.com .
